Description
What the F*** Does This Mean?
A Critical Exploration of Art With a Glass of Cava
Join us for an hour of exploration and discovery as we dive into the layers of a single piece of art, cava in hand. In this session, you’ll engage in a lively, open conversation where we challenge what we see, question our assumptions, and uncover new perspectives. Using the HumanCamera method, which is based on Critical Visual Literacy, we’ll explore the deeper meanings behind a piece of artwork, examining both its visual elements and its broader context—which can offer a shared understanding while allowing for personal interpretation.
You don’t need to be an art expert—just come with an open mind and a willingness to share your thoughts. Whether you’re new to art or already have a keen eye, this session will offer fresh ways to think about art and photography, generating insights along the way.
These sessions focus on looking slowly and reflectively. This method encourages an in-depth exploration of what we observe and how we interpret it automatically, which involves engaging with the artwork in a manner that differs from our usual quick glance. These sessions provide an opportunity to explore various perspectives, connect with others, and relish the process of slow observation and reflection on a piece of art while enjoying a glass of Cava.
What We’ll Do:
- Explore Art with Depth and Curiosity: We’ll delve into a carefully selected piece of artwork, examining its visual and contextual elements while sipping cava in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
- Engage in Open Conversation: Through group discussions, you’ll share your thoughts and interpretations while learning from others’ perspectives.
- Practice Critical Visual Literacy: Using the HumanCamera method, you’ll challenge and reflect on assumptions, uncover hidden meanings, and gain a richer understanding of the art and its impact.
- Take Away a Fresh Perspective: Leave with new tools for interpreting and appreciating art, and perhaps even a new way of seeing the world around you.
